Assassin’s Creed is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft. The game is set in a fictional history wherein Assassins fight for peace with free will while the Templars desire peace through control. As the first entry to the Assassin's Creed series, this game introduces the characters during the Third Crusade to the Holy Land. You will play a modern-day man named Desmond Miles. With a machine called the Animus, you can view and control the genetic memories of your ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. Your goal is to expose details of the fight between the Knights Templar and the Assassins over an important artifact known as the Apple of Eden.
Gameplay
The game begins with you playing as Desmond Miles. He’s a bartender living in the year 2012 until he’s kidnapped by agents from Abstergo Industries. They take him to Rome where he is forced to participate in a series of trials revolving around the Animus - a machine that translates the memories of his ancestors into a simulated reality. Through the machine, he relives the early years of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
Desmond discovers that despite being the senior member of the Assassin Brotherhood, he botched an attempt to retrieve the Piece of Eden from the grandmaster of the Knights Templar. He attempts to redeem himself by fending off the Crusaders and assassinating nine key individuals. This leads him to discover a secret held by the Templar Order. As Altaïr, your only goal is to carry out the assassinations ordered by Al Mualim.
This means you will need to travel across three cities - Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus - and find the Brotherhood agent in that city. The agent is in charge of providing a safe house as well as information about the target. Reconnaissance missions like eavesdropping, interrogation, and pickpocketing will be required to be completed before proceeding with the assassinations. Once each assassination is completed, you will return to the Brotherhood and be rewarded with upgrades or given a new weapon. You can use it to take down your next target.
